The south manchester centre for psychotherapy

is based in Heaton Moor, Stockport, Cheshire, was established in 1991 by Carol Lucas and is open from 9.00am to 9.30pm every day of the week.

Psychotherapy, counselling and supervision take place Monday to Friday and the psychotherapy and counselling training programme at weekends.

smcp meets with the highest standards of practice in psychotherapy, counselling and training and is a purpose built centre of excellence in the Manchester area. smcp has nine therapy / training / meeting rooms at ground floor and first floor levels. The physical environment is maintained to a high standard and smcp is situated away from the main road creating a quiet environment.

smcp is committed to quality, accountability and absolute regard for others. We offer a warm welcome to everyone.

Heaton Moor is a leafy suburb of South Manchester with good public transport links and either free or cheap parking facilities close by.


Psychotherapy and Counselling

Appointment times are available for individuals, children, couples, groups and families. Psychotherapists and Counsellors include the modalities of: Transactional Analysis, Gestalt, Couples Therapy, Person Centered and CBT.

Psychotherapy and Counselling are available at a range of prices depending upon the qualifications and experience of the practitioner.

Understanding Human Personality or the official '101' course

This is a fully accredited two day introduction to Transactional Analysis theory. It offers a simple and yet profound way to think about our own personality and the relationships that we form throughout our lives.

Psychotherapy and Counselling Training

smcp is a United Kingdom Association for Transactional Analysis Registered Training Establishment with the United Kingdom Association for Transactional Analysis (UKATA) - all training is recognised by The United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

Many smcp students who have now qualified are practising psychotherapists and counsellors on BACP and UKCP national registers.

All courses lead to UKCP and or BACP registration, are part time, take place at weekends and are for those interested in becoming psychotherapists or counsellors or for those who want to access personal development.

Psychotherapists and counsellors working at smcp are carefully vetted and have undergone an average of eight years training within the psychotherapeutic and counselling fields beyond their university and professional education. They have to meet all criteria, in line with professional registration, for practising at smcp.
