Information on the '101' course

smcp runs all year round night school style or two day introductory courses - these short courses are known as the '101'. They introduce the theory and clinical skills used in TA Psychotherapy and begin to show how these can be applied to all human relationships as well as the psychotherapeutic encounter.

How the '101' course is accredited

This short two day or 8 session night school style course is fully accredited by the Institute of Transactional Analysis (ITA)and an official ITA accredited certificate will be awarded to all who complete the introductory course in either format. The certificate will be sent to you directly by the Institute of Transactional Analysis within, roughly, two weeks of the course completion. (This course is also known as the official ‘101’ course.) The night school style course is an ongoing rolling programme and therefore you may join at any point. You must complete the minimum number of hours in order to be awarded the official '101' certificate.

Course Content

The '101' courses are open access and introduce concepts that help us understand Human Personality, Psychotherapy, Counselling and the theory and skills underpinning clinical application. They are available at smcp throughout the year. This course, in either format, is a prerequisite for all further psychotherapy training in Transactional Analysis and offers a great opportunity to meet the Trainer/s and experience the learning environment and style of training as well as being good value for money.

The course provides an introduction to the Key concepts of Psychotherapy theory and practice using Transactional Analysis as the primary model. It offers ways of thinking about human behaviour, personality and ways of interacting with different personality styles and forms of communication. There will be opportunities to explore your own personality and relationships through teaching, experiential work, skills practise and small group discussion.

Course Delivery
