Information on the '101' course

smcp runs two day introductory courses - these short courses are known as the '101'. They introduce the theory and clinical skills used in TA Psychotherapy or Counselling and begin to show how these can be applied to all human relationships as well as the psychotherapeutic encounter.

How the '101' course is accredited

This short two day course is fully accredited by the United Kingdom Association for Transactional Analysis (UKATA). An official UKATA accredited certificate will be awarded to all who complete the introductory course. This course is also known as the official ‘101’ course.

Course Content

The '101' course is open access and introduces concepts that help us understand Human Personality, Psychotherapy, Counselling and the theory and skills underpinning clinical application. Two day courses are available at smcp throughout the year and are a prerequisite for all further psychotherapy training in Transactional Analysis.

The 101 course is an opportunity to meet the Trainer/s, experience the learning environment and the style of training delivery.

The course provides an introduction to the key concepts of Psychotherapy theory and practise using Transactional Analysis as the primary model. It offers ways of thinking about human behaviour, personality and ways of interacting with different personality styles and forms of communication.

There will be opportunities to explore your own personality and relationships through teaching, experiential work, skills practise and small group discussion.
